Project leader meeting became Skåne around in two hours

An inspirational journey through Skåne! 16 leader projects, 27 participants and plenty of ideas on how we together develop our rural areas.

Skåne around in two hours – inspired by 16 leader projects!

From search dogs that discover tree diseases and old abandoned houses that get new life to meeting places, art, coastal fishing and youth engagement. When 27 participants gathered for the project leader meeting at Fulltofta Nature Center, it was almost like a separate episode of The country around. What breadth, what ideas and what engagement!

On November 2, Leader Östra Skåne and Leader Mitt Skåne Nordväst organized yet another joint project leader meeting. The purpose? To gather people who in various ways develop their rural areas, let them inspire each other and create opportunities for new collaborations.

And there was certainly much to tell!

From coastal fishing to fruit trees and old houses

We heard, among other things, how Save coastal fishing builds international networks to preserve coastal fishing, while specially trained dogs will be able to detect serious diseases in fruit trees before they are even visible.

I Find Home in My Northwest and Rural life – The abandoned houses and reuse work in various ways to revive houses that stand empty. In Önneköp, they are exploring the possibilities to grow together, while a new color workshop in Färingtofta will spread knowledge about traditional and environmentally friendly colors.

Meeting places, experiences and new opportunities

We also got to follow along to The House of Opportunities in Hästveda, where a multi-activity house is emerging, and Ljungavallen in Ljungbyhed, where a new activity arena will soon be inaugurated.

Other highlights were about art in RÖRD, the development of Kjugekull's outdoor museum, sustainable canoe trails and how The Lake Kingdom of Skåne will attract more visitors from Denmark.

We also heard about youth's opportunities to influence society, horse-assisted interventions and practical learning, a new hiking trail and the development of Lerberget's harbor.

Together we develop the countryside!

What unites all these projects are the people behind them. People who see opportunities, take initiatives and work to make their places even better to live and work in.

We try to arrange a couple of joint project leader meetings each year. These are valuable occasions to share experiences, learn from each other and make contacts across both municipal and leader area boundaries.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and generously shared their experiences, challenges and successes. We went home with both new knowledge and lots of inspiration!
