Strategy

Eastern Skåne – where people and ideas create a vibrant countryside. That is our vision.

Leader Eastern Skåne's development strategy

Each Leader area has a local development strategy that forms the basis for development in the area. The strategy forms the framework for our work and governs how we can distribute Leader support. The strategy has been developed in collaboration between the private, non-profit and public sectors and applies to the years 2023-2027.

Vision

Eastern Skåne – where people and ideas create a vibrant countryside

Our vision is that in eastern Skåne, meetings between people create a breeding ground for new ideas and creative solutions that are significant for the attractiveness and growth of the place. Together we contribute to a vibrant and sustainable countryside where everyone finds their place and where participation and pride are great. A sustainable society now and for future generations.

Three overarching principles

Projects funded by Leader Eastern Skåne must take into account the EU's three overarching principles. The aim is to ensure that no development effort is made at the expense of people, nature or society or that could in any way jeopardize the opportunities of future generations.

Sustainable development

Equal treatment and non-discrimination

Gender equality

Five goals

GOAL 1

Increased location attractiveness

Eastern Skåne residents create local values together. Offerings such as proximity to a range of activities, natural resources and active villages ensure both quality of life for residents and immigration to the area. They also make the area attractive to visit. Eastern Skåne attracts people of all ages and from different backgrounds, making the area a vibrant and creative place to live.

GOAL 2

Increased creative power

More collaborations between entrepreneurs, not least in the green and blue industries and the hospitality industry, create new ideas and innovative solutions to help companies develop and grow. Through collaboration spaces and cross-connections between industries, academia and organizations, the power of ideas can increase in all sectors.

GOAL 3

Increased growth and employment

Eastern Skåne has many competitive companies with a broad range of industries. Companies find the right skills when their rapid growth increases employment in the area. New business relationships, products and business offers have given potential growth industries, such as the hospitality industry and service companies, an edge over their competitors. The idea-based and non-profit sector is an important and strong player that contributes to increased employment. At the same time, there are offerings and collaborations for increased skills among individuals.

GOAL 4

Increased knowledge and more smart solutions for a better environment and climate

Through increased knowledge of the local environment, the residents and stakeholders of eastern Skåne have, just as the UN climate panel wanted, transformed their behaviors and norms. This has created a better environment, which is in line with the national environmental goals. More smart environmental and climate solutions are used in all sectors. Protecting the area's natural resources and using them wisely is obvious.

GOAL 5

Strengthened participation and belonging

In eastern Skåne there is a place for everyone, and the residents are good at creating a sense of participation through their great commitment to the area and its assets. The rich community life has grown through new intergenerational and inclusive working methods, which has strengthened its already important social mission. The residents are proud ambassadors for the area and they feel trusted and that they have influence. In this way, eastern Skåne has become stronger and more democratic.

Three areas of intervention

Leader Eastern Skåne has three focus areas, which describe the efforts required to achieve the goals. Collaboration and cross-linking, feasibility studies, skills development and method transfers are a given within all focus areas and an important part of the Leader method. All projects that are granted support must fit into one of the strategy's three focus areas:

AREA OF INTERVENTION 1

Place development, pride and participation

The attractiveness of a place is determined by the available offerings and the people who live there. Proud residents with good local knowledge are the best ambassadors for the area, and a sense of belonging is crucial for safety, creativity and local engagement.

This could, for example, involve:

  • development and refinement of services
  • development of associations and community life
  • efforts to increase the diversity of attractive habitats
  • identification of local needs and plans for using local resources
  • development of the range of nature, cultural and leisure activities with a focus on experiences
  • meeting places for participation and togetherness
  • to highlight and market the area
  • intergenerational exchanges
  • efforts for increased social belonging, participation and strengthened democracy
  • integration-promoting efforts
  • identity-strengthening efforts
  • new forms of cooperation and platforms for collaboration.

AREA OF INTERVENTION 2

Competitiveness and competence

Eastern Skåne is rich in small and medium-sized companies with a broad distribution of industries. At the same time, the area is undergoing a structural transformation in the business sector: from a base in agriculture and industry to a larger proportion of service companies. This requires new skills, skills development and an increased ability to develop new innovations. Skills supply is a challenge due to the presence of incorrect or insufficient education, but potential exchanges of skills are an opportunity.

This could, for example, involve:

  • skills and business development
  • visibility and development of informal competences and skills
  • development of small-scale and sustainable production
  • development of sustainable business
  • product and concept development
  • networks and meetings for business and idea exchanges
  • visibility and marketing of services and products.

AREA OF INTERVENTION 3

Green transformation

The importance of environmental and climate work for a sustainable eastern Skåne is widely known. However, there is a need to move from words to action and to ensure lasting effects through local commitment and skills development. This is called green transformation. Agenda 2030 is clear that the challenges facing society require cross-sectoral collaboration, which is the strength of the Leader method.

This could, for example, involve:

  • skills-enhancing initiatives within green transition
  • new and developed environmental and climate-smart solutions
  • to create and channel environmental commitment
  • greener villages and farms
  • sustainable local production
  • efforts to increase biodiversity
  • healthier lands, waters and oceans
  • sustainable outdoor life and sustainable tourism industry
  • networks and meetings for new ideas.

Indicators

Indicators are a tool for measuring goals set in the strategy. They provide a picture of the development that has occurred and are intended to show goal achievement.

To receive support for your project, you must contribute to the goals identified as meeting the goals of the strategy.
