The conference began with a study visit to Gårdsfisk – an impressive company that has evolved from a first brave initiative to farm fish on land to today establishing and spreading its concept to larger farms and agriculture that want to diversify their operations. We followed their journey from pioneer phase to established player. Today there are four larger facilities, one of which is located at Maltesholms estate, where our visit took place.
The conference then continued at Breanäs Hotel by Immeln. The program included project presentations from Seaweed on the Plate (Frida Hejdedal) and Preliminary Study Action Accelerator Hanöbukten (Annelie Worgaard). Participants also gained international perspectives through a presentation from the Netherlands, as well as input from the Marine Center in Simrishamn through Vesa Tschernij's presentation. Agne Andersson, former municipal ecologist and leader member, shared his experiences and described how Leader has been crucial for the implementation of the many water conservation projects he has led.
Furthermore, John Zafaradl talked about how the leader areas around Vänern collaborate to strengthen inland fishing, and Carl Dahlberg explained the purpose of the EU's marine, fisheries, and aquaculture program. He also provided a current status update on the program period and opened up for input for the upcoming period.
The days were characterized by knowledge exchange, inspiration, and concrete collaboration – and became the starting point for continued joint work on the blue issues.
