Welcome to an exciting digital lecture about transition with Isabelle McAllister, transition activist, author, program host and expert on recycling!
The transition is complex. It is large systems, laws and practical ways we do things that must change, the research is clear! But it is also an internal transition that must happen. An entrepreneur, municipal worker and local politician is also an individual. Someone who has worked, educated and lived in a world that is now no longer sustainable – there is often resistance in it, emotions and thoughts that bubble up and that must be managed as well as new ways of working.
Isabelle McAllister gives us a crash course in the climate situation and describes how the transition can be achieved by weaving together climate research, psychology and behavioral science.
With good examples of associations, companies, communities and people from all over the world, Isabelle shows us that it is possible to change and think differently.
In a workshop, we together brainstorm initiatives or project ideas that can accelerate the transition.
Finally, the organizer Leader Östra Skåne talks about the possibilities of applying for project support to get started!
Tuesday, November 26th at 7:00 PM-8:30 PM via Teams

Isabelle McAllister we have seen in a variety of programs such as Äntligen hemma, När & Fjärran, Maxat (with Erik Ekstrand), Sommartorpet, Fixa rummet and Klimatrenoverarna. In 2021, she released the book Skavank, a mixture of theory and practical tips that teach us to take care of and repair our things. The book has received great reviews and Isabelle has talked about it on both P1 Morgon and TV4 Nyhetsmorgon. In 2022, Isabelle was nominated for the WWF Environmental Hero of the Year award, with the justification that as a creator and inspirer in design and recycling, she has shown young women, families and children how to renew their home in a sustainable way. In the same year, she received the “Swedish Second Hand Profile” award for her work in inspiring sustainable consumption, and she was also named Building Maintenance Worker of the Year. https://www.isabelle.se/
Leader Eastern Skåne works with rural development through the Leader method and grants project funds to associations, companies and public organisations. The Leader method, which has been used throughout the EU since 1991, is based on the idea that local development is carried out most effectively and sustainably by those who live and work in an area. There are currently over 2,800 Leader areas in Europe and exactly 40 in Sweden, of which Leader Östra Skåne is one. The activities are financed with support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, the Swedish state and the participating municipalities: Bromölla, Hässleholm, Kristianstad, Osby, Perstorp, Simrishamn, Tomelilla, Ystad and Östra Göinge. www.leaderostraskane.se
