Adaptation of Hästveda Boules Court

Within PRO in Hästveda, there was already an existing boule group that operated the existing court. To arrange competitions, the requirements from the Swedish Boule Federation needed to be met, which the project organized.

Boule is very much at the same time: sport and game, competition and play, for old and for young. Improving the already existing court in Hästveda would also create a meeting place accessible to all.

For many years, the association struggled to renovate the court to meet the competition requirements from the Swedish Boule Federation. The association's treasurer, Conny Runeke, shares that the project has brought much joy; it was when they received the project decision that they cheered the most.

With the help of the association's members and hired workers, eight boule courts were completed. To also be able to arrange competitions on days with worse weather, a rain shelter was built. Everything required to meet the recommendations of the Swedish Boule Federation was implemented.

A clear part of the goal was to collaborate with, for example, schools and recreational activities to offer this open meeting place to more people. Just because the court is open to everyone, it means improved service for visitors and residents in the area.

Since the inauguration of the Boule court, it has been used frequently, both by PRO Hästveda and by other associations primarily within Hässleholm municipality. Competitive matches have been organized, but also other gatherings where the meeting place was utilized during an activity week and a social gathering with entertainment. The weather during the social gathering could normally have caused issues, but Conny remembers how the new rain shelter really saved the day.

The project also became the start of new collaborations with the school, recreational activities, Hästveda market, other associations, and the public at large, as everyone can meet over a few games of boules.
