An attractive Perstorp
As a classic old mill town, Perstorp municipality has some challenges, including increasing pride in the area. Based on this, work was done on several different levels to welcome the Perstorp of the future.
About the project
Lost jobs create a need for new ones, mainly entry-level and low-threshold jobs. This in turn creates problems such as high debt, child poverty and unemployment. In general, many of the residents in the municipality also lacked pride in their area, something that the project really wanted to change.
Activities
With two main tracks, the project has implemented a local place development process that brought together businesses, associations and the municipality to identify value and potential. The first track promoted business development with skills-enhancing activities for entrepreneurs. The second track would increase the attractiveness of developing the municipality as a destination.
Entrepreneurs in Perstorp have also participated in skills development initiatives, lectures and a digital diploma program through IUC - a national resource for increased competitiveness in Swedish industry.
Results
A total of 202 actors have been inspired and received skills development. 157 entrepreneurs have been reached through meetings. A new network was created to actively connect the municipality, entrepreneurs and property owners to develop the area along National Road 21.
The interest in trail development was broader than the project initially assumed. This led to the feasibility study being expanded to also include trail development throughout the municipality. The project was met with genuine commitment to these future opportunities, especially when it comes to the beautiful, Astrid-Lindgren-like nature that the municipality has.
