Pre-study about fountain house
The project was implemented in Leader Lag PH during the 2014-2024 programming period.
Mental illness is a widespread condition that can lead to poorer education and job opportunities. Several research results show which measures work, and one of these was the focus of this particular pilot study.
About the project
The Fontänhus model has proven to be an effective rehabilitation method for people with mental illness worldwide. Through the feasibility study, the results would be aimed at decision-makers and stakeholders whose long-term commitment and financial support are needed to establish a Fontänhus in Hässleholm.
In short, the model can be described as a form of rehabilitation that focuses on what works instead of what is problematic and limits the individual. Members participate voluntarily and contribute according to their own ability. Research has shown, among other things, that the model leads to a significant reduction in hospital admissions, a reduction in the need for social interventions and that members experience less stigma and an improved quality of life.
Activities
Through online training and digital seminars, work was done on anchoring efforts throughout Sweden. The preliminary study included highlighting what a Fontänshus could look like specifically in Hässleholm, what the organization should look like and which collaboration actors are relevant. A current situation analysis was carried out where the project owner mapped the need group, what efforts had previously been made, who has the long-term responsibility and how a Fontänshus in Hässleholm could be financed.
Results
Together with people who have a deep non-profit commitment, the project progressed beyond expectations. The preliminary study was delivered with a working model and a method for starting up fountain houses, in Hässleholm as well as in other parts of Sweden. The application for funding was sent to Hässleholm Municipality and the National Board of Health and Welfare.
The project's activities continued even after the project was completed. The Fontänhus Hässleholm Association continued to work with the municipality of Hässleholm and at a national level the feasibility study is used in other areas and Fontänhus.
