The project aimed not only to establish an educational hiking trail but also worked to make an ecological difference. A hike along the trail would provide visitors with tools to make a difference on their own.

In the area around Lilla Oberöd near Finjasjön, there are 89 red-listed species. Many of these have been red-listed due to modern agriculture and ignorance. The project aimed to raise interest in and provide knowledge about biodiversity and why it is so significant.

During the course of the project, a green infrastructure was created through the agricultural landscape. A wetland and a pond were established to offer different habitats for species such as amphibians and dragonflies.

The new hiking trail starts from a meeting place consisting of an information area and an Attefall house. Here, meetings can be organized, school classes can be received, and art exhibitions can be held.

The educational hiking trail has been created and it enhances the natural conditions present in the local area. Through the trail, people have the opportunity to get close to nature with its various types of waterways, grazing animals, pollinators, and insects. As an environmental project, a wetland was also recreated and the ecological diversity was improved. There is now an area that welcomes, among others, tourists, hikers, schools, fruit and berry growers, schools, and biologists. Great emphasis has been placed on surveying animal and plant life, all to provide nature with the absolute best conditions.

In the vicinity of the popular area surrounding Hovdala Castle, there is now this educational and important destination. Through the project's website, you can also follow which animals move in the area at night and which ones hibernate in some of the project's created ”hotels.”.
