Ignaberga Nature and culture
The project was implemented in Leader Lag PH during the 2014-2024 programming period.
The villages of Ignaberga, Tykarp and Gulastorp have unique cultural environments and natural treasures. The project wanted to make it easier for residents and visitors to both discover and experience this beautiful environment.
About the project
Outside Hässleholm lie the three small villages, which together have about 120 inhabitants. The area is known for the massive limestone rock and the fossils found there, but also for Tykarpsgrottan and the internationally famous sculptor Henry Nilsson. By concretely enhancing and making the area accessible, the project wanted to make it easier for everyone who lives or visits the area to discover more of what it has to offer.
Activities
The primary activities in the project can be summarized based on three different stages. The first stage was about study circles, study visits, fact-finding and training of local nature and culture guides. This would lead to leaflets about the area, material for the information signs that were set up and coffee places. The purpose of the second stage was to create and adapt a walking trail with associated coffee places for accessibility. On the height between the old and new Ignaberga churches, the trail was made accessible and illuminated. In addition to the information signs that were placed along the trail, coffee benches and a rest bench were set up. Information cabinets were also installed at selected locations to be used to market activities in the area.
Finally, stage three was carried out, which focused on preparing and making accessible the exhibition space in the ”Yellow School” located next to Ignaberga Old Church. During the course of the project, two exhibitions were arranged.
Results
A look in the rearview mirror shows that many parts of the project have gone better than expected! An example of this is that a full 340 people participated in training and courses, which also consisted of a full 41 separate events.
Finally, the project demonstrates great community regardless of generation, strong collaboration and inspiring local commitment. It is a project that has clearly given its participants both new and expanded knowledge and a greater pride in their region.
