Kåseberga Sauna

Floating sauna attracts more than expected

About the project

In Kåseberga harbor on Österlen, a new meeting place has emerged – literally on the water. With support from Leader, a climate-smart sauna raft has been established to create life in the harbor year-round. The interest has been greater than expected.

Already at the beginning of the year, the project's original booking goals had been exceeded. Visitors come despite it still being low season, which shows that the need for ocean-close experiences exists year-round.

The sauna can be easily booked via a website and starts automatically before each visit. Under the raft, so-called mussel socks have also been placed – an initiative that helps to purify the water and improve the marine environment.

The project contributes to developing Kåseberga harbor as a sustainable destination and a meeting place for both locals and visitors. In the spring, lifesaving courses are planned together with the Sea Rescue Society as well as an official inauguration of the sauna.

Kåseberga Sauna has been highlighted by Visit Skåne as one of ten places to take a cold bath in Skåne.
