My Simrishamn

Together for an attractive and vibrant Simrishamn – the capital of Österlen.

The project aimed to strengthen collaboration between different actors in Simrishamn, including the municipality, property owners, businesses and associations. The goal was to create a sustainable and long-term development model that increased the city's attractiveness and improved the trade, service and tourism industries. By implementing the BID process (Business Improvement District), the project wanted to promote shared responsibility and strengthen the city's brand.

The project carried out three main activities:

1. The BID process – A collaborative process with workshops, coaching and analysis took place over 18 months. A current situation analysis and business plan were developed, and the collaborative organization ”Mitt Simrishamn” was formed.
2. Digital platform and training – A website, a Facebook page and collaboration with Cityplay provided better communication and customer insights. Four social media training sessions were conducted.
3. Skills development and inspiration – Study trips, conferences and training in service and hospitality were carried out. The project also participated in a pilot project to develop a national measurement tool for sustainable cities.

The project strengthened collaboration between the city's stakeholders and resulted in a shared vision and business plan. Focus groups were created to identify improvement measures and information dissemination was improved. The project received national attention and received an honorable mention for innovative work, as well as second place in the City Center of the Year 2022. Mitt Simrishamn lives on as an active collaborative organization with long-term development plans and continuous commitment from the city's partners.

It is important to create an attractive city center in order to have a vibrant countryside. The project will, through a three-way partnership, create a common image and platform for the development of Simrishamn, which contributes to increased commitment and cooperation between different actors and industries in Simrishamn. In addition, the project also contributes to economic growth in companies through skills-enhancing initiatives, the creation of companies and jobs.
