Umbrella Project Young

We are now making it easier for young people to realize their ideas in eastern Skåne. Through three umbrella projects, young people can quickly and easily seek support for their own initiatives that develop the countryside.

Leader Östra Skåne is seeking support for three LAG-owned umbrella projects that will enable young people between the ages of 15 and 25 to implement their own development initiatives with simplified administrative requirements. Within the projects, young people can apply for checks of up to SEK 35,000 per application to create meeting places, arrange activities and events or carry out experience exchanges and networking that meet identified needs in the area.

The aim is to ensure that young people have access to Leader funds, strengthen their involvement in local development and make it easier to go from idea to action. The umbrella projects will also spread knowledge about the EU, the Leader method, rural development, project management and organizing, and in the long term contribute to rejuvenation within the association and the Leader Östra Skåne board.

The need has been identified in dialogue with a youth reference group from the area's nine municipalities, where young people highlighted the lack of activities and meeting places in rural areas and the difficulty in taking advantage of existing forms of support. Through a simpler application process and requirements for cooperation according to the Leader method, accessible and inclusive opportunities are created for projects by, with and for young people.

At least 27 sub-activities will be implemented, with at least one in each municipality and a total of at least 150 participants. The projects are administered by the Leader office and implemented in collaboration with local associations, companies and organizations. The result will be more youth-driven initiatives, strengthened local attractiveness and a long-term increased youth influence in eastern Skåne.

The board's justification: The umbrella projects contribute to engaging one of the strategy's stated target groups, young people between the ages of 15-25. Through the projects, these will be able to implement quick and short projects without burdensome administration. Their sub-activities will contribute to the fulfillment of the strategy and to increased engagement among young people, which can lead to future generational changes in civil society as well as in Leader Östra Skåne's own board.
