Lake Torupa

The project was implemented in Leader Lag PH during the 2014-2024 programming period.

Nils-Arne Petersson had a dream of organizing a nature hiking trail around the beautiful Torupasjön. The dream began to be embraced by more and more residents in Västra Torup and now the trail is a reality.

About the project

By creating a nature hiking trail that goes around Torupasjön, highlighting the biological diversity and providing solid information, the project aimed to create a new meeting place in a beautiful nature and recreation environment.

Activities

Clearing work and land work with local contractors were carried out. The hiking base in wet areas was built and then transported with ATVs to these parts of the trail. After that, the construction of the trail continued meter by meter.

In the very wettest places, the base was supplemented with floating blocks of foam on the underside. For Nils-Arne and everyone who worked on the project, it was a wonderful feeling when they finally got through the toughest terrain.

Results

Through the project, approximately 500 people have gained access to improved services, but in addition, all residents of Hässleholm and Perstorp municipalities as well as, of course, visitors. Even before the inauguration, they were met by several visitors and the Village Association had begun to conduct its first guided tours, including for scouts and motorcyclists.

It is estimated that at least 2,500 visitors come annually, and there is no shortage of optimism for the future – as long as the Village Association can deliver, miracles will happen!
