Step into nature

The project was implemented in Leader Lag PH during the 2014-2024 programming period.

With its location close to urban areas, Uggleskogen Nature Reserve has good potential to attract more visitors and make it possible for more people to be shown in nature. The project also wanted to focus on craftsmanship, the environment and sustainability.

About the project

It is mainly beech that grows in the Uggleskogen nature reserve, some of which are hundreds of years old. There are also exercise trails, watercourses and old stone walls that show where the estates were divided in the past.

The project wanted to increase the public's knowledge of nature, culture and cultural crafts that are linked to the environment and sustainability. By highlighting alternative methods in forestry, the project owner also wanted to inspire more forest owners to see the horse as an opportunity in the forest. A third aim was to provide more opportunities to experience nature close to urban areas with all its benefits for physical and mental health.

Activities

The project carried out several different activities, including a study visit to the Ingeborrarpsgården local history museum and lectures on topics such as scythe craft and the rights of nature.

Several courses were also held where the public could register to participate. The courses covered topics such as hazel crafts, how to build your own outdoor workshop, restoration of hay meadows, working with horse driving and working with a scythe.

Results

All the objectives that the project had in its project idea have now been implemented. This in turn also means that important contacts have been created between organizations in Perstorp and between all individuals who work for wildlife in the municipality of Perstorp.

By focusing on concrete environmental measures and what can be done together, the cooperation between the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and the municipality of Perstorp has improved, which makes new upcoming events and development work possible.
