Transnational cooperation project Canada

The project was implemented in Leader Lag PH during the 2014-2024 programming period.

While the feasibility study on networking with Canada was the first step, this collaborative project became step number two. The project aimed to create new networks in order to be inspired by each other when it comes to working within sustainable development.

About the project

Saint-Camille in Quebec, Canada, is very similar to the problems and challenges that exist in the geographical area of Leader LAG PH. At the same time, the Canadian solutions are experienced as unique. By taking an interest in each other's different areas, innovative and new-thinking methods can also be implemented.

The purpose of the project was to start an international network that makes it possible to inspire and develop each other's work on a sustainable environment.

Activities

Three different digital seminars took place based on different themes. The first theme was about the welfare of villages despite weaker financial resources. The second seminar focused on culture as a fundamental tool when it comes to rural development. The last theme discussed the work with fossil-free horsepower, which raised the project Horsepower because it involves new methods in agriculture to benefit the environment.

Due to the pandemic, the project re-planned and focused on these thematic seminars instead.

Results

Through both planning and implementation of seminars, a total of 111 people have participated and have been able to network and learn from each other. Several people also found the project so interesting that they participated several times.

With great commitment from the participants, new networks have been created with a focus on innovative rural development. A written report was produced to summarize the discussions and experiences that the project provided.
