Development of the Alpaca Farm
Alpacka Ekofarm Hultet is part of a local network that keeps the countryside alive. Developing the area's tourist attractions is a driving force and Alpackagården's activities are an important part of this.
About the project
The farm, which was recently purchased at the start of the project and is located outside Västra Torup, needed to be developed in order to establish a long-term business. The goals included upgrading the paths, renovating, partially replacing the floors, lighting the farm shop and putting up information and reference signs.
Activities
Renovations and updates of various kinds and in various locations have been carried out. This concerns both signage and practical improvements. As for the signage itself, these were developed to tell about the different animals on the farm and to provide directions to visitors regardless of which direction they come from.
The practical improvements included renovating the two rental cabins and lighting the farm shop. Another practical solution was to have a functioning website that also includes an online shop.
Results
As with many other projects, the results were affected by the pandemic, in this case fewer visitors than expected. Nevertheless, 200 new day visitors were attracted, about half of whom were tourists.
Five new products have been developed, such as different types of cold-smoked sausages and home-knitted products. The cottage rental generated 84 new overnight stays.
What happened next?
Four years after the project's completion, the business offers adventures such as alpaca walks in beautiful nature and farm tours that include close proximity to animals such as Goinge goats, miniature Shetland ponies and Linderöd pigs.
