CALL FOR: Green transformation – investments for environmental and climate benefits

Purpose

Leader Eastern Skåne is announcing support within focus area 3: Green transformation. The call is aimed at projects that, through concrete investments in rural areas, contribute to measurable improvements for the environment and climate in the area, in line with indicator R.27 within the strategic plan.

What does indicator R.27 measure?

Indicator R.27 measures the number of rural projects that, through investments, contribute to environmental sustainability and to limiting and/or adapting society to climate change.

Requirements for eligible projects

1. Clear contribution to environmental and/or climate goals
The project should contribute to at least one of the following:

  • environmental sustainability
  • reduced climate impact
  • adaptation to climate change

2. Implementation of actual measures
The project should include concrete measures, for example:

  • investments (physical, technological or nature-based)
  • implementation of solutions or systems
  • pilot or demonstration efforts leading to practical application

Pure feasibility studies, analyses or information efforts without implementation are not eligibility.

3. Lasting benefit
The project's measures should produce long-term or lasting effects, for example:

  • reduced emissions over time
  • improved resilience to climate change
  • strengthened ecosystems or more efficient resource use

4. Possibility to follow up
It should be possible to:

  • clearly justify how the project contributes to environmental and climate goals
  • report on the measures being implemented
  • if necessary, describe the type of effect achieved

Examples of relevant investments

  • Renewable energy and local energy supply
  • Climate-adapted water and stormwater management
  • Nature-based solutions (e.g. wetlands, green spaces, erosion control)
  • Circular systems and resource management
  • Sustainable agriculture and forestry
  • Biodiversity and ecosystem services
  • Climate-proof local infrastructure
  • Environmental and climate technology in pilot or demonstration projects
  • Joint environmental investments and local system solutions

Who can apply?

Associations, non-profit organizations, companies, collaborative initiatives and local development groups can apply for support.
Collaboration between several actors is meritorious.

Assessment and prioritization

Projects will be prioritized based on:

  • measurable environmental and/or climate benefit
  • relevance to focus area 3: Green transformation
  • long-term sustainability
  • degree of collaboration and utilization
  • cost-effectiveness

as well as Leader's regular selection criteria

Application closes: April 15, 2026
Decision: May 19, 2026
