Little Stina's café

The project was carried out in Skånes Ess during the 2014-2024 program period.

The project aims to start a café business in Strönhult, outside Lönsboda, on a farm right next to the popular Skåneleden hiking trail. The café's products will be made from local ingredients and produced in-house as much as possible.

About the project

The service is intended to take place partly outdoors on a landscaped terrace, partly in a stable building which is one of the oldest buildings in the parish. The stable building also contains an old farmhand's cottage which will be rented out for overnight stays. This is particularly suitable considering that the farm is located right next to Skåneleden, which is a popular hiking trail where many people hike during the summer months. There is also no similar activity in Strönhult and the surrounding area, which means that the range of experiences for residents and visitors in connection with the popular Skåneleden is increased through the project.

The project will make the necessary investments to renovate and adapt the dining areas, lecture hall and farmstead. The network with local suppliers and partners will be built up and a study visit operation will be started. When the project is completed, the rental operation will have started.

Lill-Stina previously ran a café in Kläcklingen outside Växjö, collaborating with her mother's company, Agnes Gårdsmejeri. In 2012, the operations in Kläcklingen were closed with the move to Strönhult.

Results

When the project is finalised, the customer flow has already proven to be good with many regular customers. There are plans for future events, such as Christmas markets and the like. Several collaborations are being built up with local producers, including ceramists and egg producers.

LAG board's justification for car accident

LAG assesses that the initiative is creating conditions for entrepreneurship, including as a node for other activities in the area. The initiative and investment near the Skåneleden means that the trail will have a visitor destination with coffee opportunities that are missing today and where the café can also function as a showcase for other activities in the area. The project strengthens opportunities for the continuation of the cultural and natural environment with the village environment that exists in Strönhult, which is a so-called undivided village. The proximity to the Örnanäs cultural reserve also strengthens Lill-Stina's café as a visitor destination. The project involves local employment and provides the prerequisites for synergy effects between local entrepreneurs in the tourism industry and food. The project is also supported by the municipality. The project has a large element of entrepreneurship and is profile and identity-building. The project fits well into the strategy for Skånes Ess and contributes to the goals in several areas of focus, but mostly to the goals in the area of competitiveness.
