Visit Osby –
through history towards the future
From BRIO history to a vibrant meeting place at Lekoseum in Osby
In the leader project and the pre-study ”Visit Osby” which concluded in 2019, it emerged that Lekoseum needed to be developed to remain an attractive destination. It also became clear that many cultural actors in the local area are in great need of premises for their various activities.
The Lekoseum Foundation has transformed the historic BRIO house into a lively, playful, and cultural meeting place in the heart of Osby through the project ”Visit Osby – through history towards the future.”.
With Lekoseum – a museum with space for play – as the hub, the project has opened up a unique cultural heritage to the public and made previously hidden collections accessible to both residents and visitors.
The project has been characterized by strong local anchoring and significant voluntary engagement. Through study circles, collaboration with associations, businesses, and volunteers, as well as intergenerational knowledge exchange, participation and pride have been created. New exhibitions have emerged in interaction between participants, museum staff, and local craftsmen, while the property has developed into a clear destination.
The result is more than a museum – it is an open meeting place for associations, entrepreneurs, and cultural actors. The project has strengthened the tourism industry, created new jobs, developed new working methods, and contributed to social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The BRIO house has thus become an attractive and future-oriented place for the entire region.

The board's assessment
Decision date: 2023-08-28
Total selection criteria: 860 points
The board's justification: The board has chosen to prioritize the project with the justification that there is a great need for meeting places and this will become a meeting place created with and for the target group. The board also sees potential for impact in the long term as the project can attract more and new tourists but also stimulate increased immigration and strengthened entrepreneurship.
